Terms of Service

Last updated: August 2026
Plain-English summary: Only put up tolls on content you own or control. Set your prices; we take 5% of what you earn. Access sold through a toll is a single-use right to read — not a license to store, resell, or redistribute.

1. The service

Tolljar lets you meter access to your content: humans can pay to unlock it, AI agents can pay automatically via the x402 payment standard, and wallet-less AI visits can be logged.

2. Your content & ownership

You may only register content that you own or are authorized to monetize. You retain all rights to your content. You grant us the limited rights needed to host, meter, and deliver it on your behalf. Registering content you do not own is prohibited and may be reported under our notice-and-takedown process.

3. Fees

Installing Tolljar is free. We retain a platform fee of 5% of amounts you collect through Tolljar. Founding creators may receive fee waivers per their separate agreement. Fees may change with notice.

4. What a toll payment grants

A completed toll grants the payer a single-use right to read the requested content. It does not grant any right to store, retrain on, resell, redistribute, or sublicense the content unless you explicitly offer such terms.

5. Prohibited use

6. Payouts

Balances are held with regulated payment partners and paid out to your connected bank account. Tolljar is a software service, not a bank, and does not itself take custody of funds beyond what is required to route them.

7. Disclaimers & liability

The service is provided "as is" during beta. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability is limited. Estimated figures (including public dashboards and calculators) are illustrative, not guarantees of revenue.
